Typing With Crossed Legs
I’d always thought that crossing your legs while typing was advised against simply because it would cut off some of the circulation to your legs. Turns out I was wrong. (I know, I know it happens occasionally.) It can also put your spine out of alignment.
Did you know that?
I CANNOT sit like a normal person for very long. I usually sit (yes, in my computer chair) with my legs crossed under me, or crunched up between myself and the desk. Or one leg propped up on the chair. Circulation and spine alignment may or may not have any significance for me.
I hope your newfound knowledge isn’t because of personal experience!

Hmm, Ashlee for some reason I think the ergonomicists (?) would have even more to say about your sitting style than they do about mine. Don’t you find it really uncomfortable?
In answer to your question, my back has been uncomfortable recently so the news brought to mind something along the lines of, ‘Of course, you Dingbat, why didn’t I think of that earlier.’
Naw, I just think I was designed to live somewhere like a traditional Japanese-styled place, where all your sitting and sleeping is on the floor/futon, with much leg-crossing. I also hate wearing regular shoes indoors (or in general). As we speak (or, I type?), I’ve got both feet hiked up onto the chair, elbows resting on the inside of my knees, so I probably look like some kind of frog sitting here. It’s very comfy and entirely counter to everything “they” say about proper computer use.
I’ve heard that using those huge exercise balls as your computer chair is suuupergood for sore backs, because it forces proper posture and has a much more natural angle for legs/hips/feet. That, or spend several hundred dollars on those fully-adjustable ergonomic chairs and footrests and goodness knows what else.

i like to use ergonomic chairs at home because it supports longer working hours:~:
Definitely agree with you on that one Alice. There’s nothing like being in the flow of writing (or trying to reach a deadline) and having to stop because your body is saying you’ve done enough.
i love ergonomic chairs because you can sit on them all day long without hurting your back,:~
i like those ergonomic chairs that uses leather covers”"`
i love ergonomic chairs because they are more relaxing compared to conventional chairs
It would appear that the ergonomic chairs are definitely doing their job. So the question is then, what kind of ergonomic chairs are we talking about? Ones that still look like office chairs, the ones you kneel on, or something different?
